With an induction scheduled for the following morning at 7:30am, Kristen went into labor at roughly 11:30pm the night prior...while Brian was sound asleep. Kristen decided to time the contractions on her own and let her first child, Brian, sleep soundly.
At around 1:30am, the contractions grew closer together and more intense...so she woke slumbering slacker with a gentle, "Brian, I am in labor and the contractions are only 6 minutes apart." Brian went from 0 to 60 in about 4 seconds and began running around the condo, feverishly packing the car, while timing the contractions. The two jumped into the Pilot and started the quick drive (obeying speed limits) to the Hospital. As the first adrenaline rush wore off, Brian's 2:30am IQ returned to its normal 40. Brian accelerated and nearly sped by the hospital, had it not been for his painfully awake bride. Kristen (while having a contraction) blared, "this is the hospital!" Kristen almost delivered in the passenger seat as Brian hammered the brakes and took a hard right turn into the parking lot exit...oops.
Admitted around 3am, Kristen was still only 3 cm dilated. The OB-GYN told the two to manage the morning and expect a late afternoon delivery. Kristen lightly dozed while Brian crumpled into a slumbering mass in a nearby chair. At 8:30am, Kristen woke Brian again with five simple words..."I am dilated 9cm." Immediately, the drooling idiot went from 0 to 100 and starting moving stuff out of the way for the nurses.
A few short hours later, after pushing for 54 minutes, Paige Ellen Sinclair stepped out into the world weighing in at 9 lb 2 oz, measuring at 21.5 inches long.
